Dr. Wadih Ghaname is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine at the Lebanese American University. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer and Head of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology at LAU Medical Center – Saint John’s Hospital.

Dr. Ghaname obtained his Medical Doctor (MD) degree with distinction from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1985. He pursued specialized training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, completing his residency at Hôpital de la Conception | AP-HM and Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal de Fréjus Saint-Raphaël in Marseille, France, from 1986 to 1990. Further advancing his expertise, he earned diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Hysteroscopic and Laparoscopic Surgery from Aix-Marseille University in 1990. Additionally, he holds a Certificate in Reproductive Medicine from the same university.

Dr. Ghaname's clinical expertise includes laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, myomectomy, laparoscopic fertility treatments, and genital aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. His areas of specialization also encompass high-risk pregnancies, oncologic gynecology, uro-gynecology, breast pathology, and operative hysteroscopy.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ghaname has held several key academic and professional positions. He was the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) from 2001 to 2019 and a Clinical Assistant in Obstetrics and Gynecology at both the Lebanese American University and the Lebanese University. He also served as Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Notre Dame de Secours University Hospital from 2011 to 2017.

Dr. Ghaname is an active contributor to medical research, with numerous publications in international journals, including studies on breast cancer, pregnancy and renal transplantation, ovarian cancer, and infertility treatments. He has also been involved in national and international medical conferences as a speaker, moderator, and President of the Lebanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (LSOG) International Congress (2015–2016).

Dr. Ghaname is a board member of the FIGO Working Group on Breast Disease and a member of several professional organizations, including the French National Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (CNGOF), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the European Society of Endoscopy. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Surgical Case Reports (Oxford University).

His commitment to advancing women's health, medical education, and research continues to shape the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Lebanon and beyond.
