Speak up if you have any questions or concerns. Learn more about your condition or treatments by asking your doctor or nurse. Having a family member with you when the doctor or nurse explains your care may assist.<\/li>\n<li>Some of the most frequent questions:\n<ul>\n<li>Involve yourself and your family member about how to handle the care at home.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you and your family understands what the problems are and what is likely to happen and when you can expect full recovery.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you recognize possible problems, and what to do if you see these signs.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you understand what you can and cannot do.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss with your caregivers what you may need to do to make the home safer.<\/li>\n<li>Get the instructions that concern the medications you will need to take. Make sure that you understand when to take them and how much to take, and for how long.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the need for adequate fluids and a nutritious diet.<\/li>\n<li>Get clear instructions for dealing with the patient\u2019s pain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Has your doctor planned your discharge with you? Are your Imaging Results and Medications prepared?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please ask for X-rays or other medical imaging you may have done or brought with you. Your physician may order medications for you to take home after your procedure. Please make sure you take the physician\u2019s prescription.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have you organized transport home?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are having a general anesthesia or sedation, you may feel drowsy for a few hours after the procedure. You are advised not to drive a motor vehicle or operate any machinery for a minimum of 24 hours after your procedure; therefore you will need to organize someone to take you home after your procedure. If you are having a local anesthesia with sedation the above still applies. If you are having a local anesthesia only, depending on your procedure, you may return to normal activity post procedure.
